Meet The Team
Kathy Ruiz, LCSW, RYT (she/her)
Care Director
Kathy holds her license in clinical social work in the state of Utah (License #104394947-3501). She graduated from the University of Denver in 2017 with a Master's in Social Work and has practiced clinical therapy in a variety of settings such as the criminal justice system, long-term residential therapeutic care, outpatient, and wilderness therapy. She also has experience in medical social work and foster care. Currently she teaches social work at the collegiate and master's level at Southern Utah University, and sees a small caseload of private clients.
Kathy has a background in teaching Hatha yoga, and believes in gentle movement and breath to help clients ground themselves and build sustainable organic coping strategies to deal with trauma as well as everyday stressors. Kathy is trained in Brainspotting and loves using this intervention with clients who are feeling stuck or like they have tried ‘everything’ to address their personal challenges.
Kathy is skilled at creating strong trusting alliances with her clients, and is often described as deeply caring and firm. Kathy is passionate about assisting clients on integrating their treatment experience into their current lives, and supporting young adults in navigating the journey of thriving.
Alejandro Ruiz, MEd (he/him)
Neurodivergent Excellence Coach
Alejandro earned his Master's in Educational Psychology from the University of Utah in 2021. Alejandro is also a licensed guidance counselor in the state of Utah and is well-versed in career/college readiness curriculum, as well as supporting clients in navigating the big life questions about what they want to pursue in studies and career.
Alejandro was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and is passionate about supporting neurodivergent clients in learning more about the diagnosis, and what it means for them personally. Alejandro has worked with therapists and coaches who don't experience ADHD themselves and finds that they rarely understand what actually helps neurodivergent folks.
Alejandro is direct and forward, and believes in pushing clients firmly towards their self-stated goals. He loves helping clients find meaning in a world that values 'success' and productivity over joy.
